Bio
To say that R.C. Gilbert started off avoiding writing would be an understatement. Reflective essays, term papers, and research papers did little to inspire his love of writing. As a matter of fact, when assigned an essay on how to use good grammar, he casually approached the professor and asked, “Can I turn this essay into a story?” The professor was kind enough to grant his wish. His story about a planet named “Grammaridon” where the characters talked in incomplete sentences with incorrect grammar remains one of his favorite pieces. Unfortunately, his next professor stifled all forms of creativity, leading to a fifteen-year writing hiatus.
As a teacher, Gilbert again found a passion for writing. Creative poems that highlighted his students became a monthly outlet for Gilbert’s creative flair. While hearing one of Gilbert’s poems, his son asked if he could have a story all his own. Gilbert obliged, creating the beginning of a science fiction story that sat unfinished for many years. That story, having undergone many iterations, has blossomed into his first trilogy where Gilbert has let his imagination run free.
Currently, when he is not writing, R.C. Gilbert works as an educational consultant, helping school districts increase their team capacity. He currently resides in Northern California foothills with his wife, kids, and pets. However, the ocean beckons…and so begins his next adventure.
